Privacy Policy
This notice explains what personal data Taawn processes, why we process it, and what choices and rights you have.
Controller and scope
Taawn is operated by Steffen Urban, Pfarrgasse 5b, 07743 Jena, Germany. This notice covers the website, Android app, account services, uploads, segment and run processing, notifications, and related support handling.
Data categories
Depending on how you use Taawn, we process account data (email, username, password hash, auth-provider identifiers, country of residence), profile data, uploaded videos, GPX and telemetry files, trail and run metadata, follow and social interactions, push tokens, support or report messages, and technical logs needed for security and service operation. Uploaded files may contain precise location data and riding footage. Optional crash diagnostics may include device and app context if you opt in on Android.
Purposes and legal bases
We process data to create and operate your account, authenticate you, provide video comparison and ride-analysis features, host content, enforce product rules, prevent abuse, respond to support requests, and meet legal obligations. Where required under GDPR, we rely on contract performance, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and, for optional processing such as non-essential crash diagnostics, your consent.
Recipients and international transfers
Service providers may include hosting, storage, email, mapping, authentication, push-notification, and processing providers such as Hetzner, Cloudflare, Modal, Resend, Google/Firebase, Apple, and app-store or payment operators where applicable. If personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses where required.
Retention, export, and deletion
We keep personal data for as long as needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, defend claims, and comply with legal obligations. Users may request export or deletion of their core account-owned data through Taawn support or data-choice channels, after which support or admin reviews and processes the request. When deletion is approved, we aim to hard-delete user-attributable live data and owned storage artifacts, but backup media may persist until normal rotation cycles complete.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights of access, rectification, deletion, restriction, objection, and data portability, and you may withdraw consent for optional processing at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. If you are in the EU or EEA, you may also complain to a supervisory authority.
Security and automated decisions
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect personal data, but no system is perfectly secure. Taawn does not make legally binding decisions or similarly significant automated decisions about you. Route, ranking, and comparison outputs are product features, not decisions with legal effect.
