Getting started
Taawn is an alpha/beta training app for mountain bikers and trail riders. Compare your runs on the same trail section, study lines, and review timing — it is not turn-by-turn navigation and not a substitute for safety equipment.
Core concepts
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Activity | A ride session anchored to a GPX track (from your bike computer, Strava, etc.) |
| Segment | A reference trail section: a GoPro reference video + start/end markers on the track |
| Run | Your attempt on a segment — your GoPro video matched against the reference |
| Comparison | Server output linking your run to the segment (timing, jumps, Ghost Rider overlay) |
Typical workflow
- Export a GPX from your ride recording app or bike computer.
- Add an activity in the Taawn Android app (name, bike, GPX).
- Create a segment from that activity: upload a reference GoPro video, mark start/end frames and GPS points.
- Ride again and upload a run on that segment to compare.
Shortcut: run-only
You can skip creating your own activity/segment if a segment already exists. Discover it on the map or search, open it, and Upload Run with your GoPro video.
Web vs mobile
- Android app — record workflow: add activities, create segments, cut/mark videos, upload runs.
- Website — browse segments, maps, profiles, and this documentation. Video upload happens in the app only.
