Segments

A segment is a named piece of trail with a reference GoPro video. Other riders upload runs on your segment to compare.

Create a segment (from an activity)

Open an activity → Create new segment. The flow has four accordion steps; walk through the screenshots below.

Start — on activity detail, tap Create new segment (you need an activity with GPX first)

Best practice — start, end, and section markers

Start, end, and every section marker must be a frame you could still recognize after the season changes. Prefer trees, stumps, rocks, signs, or other distinctive shapes — not a generic green corridor that only exists in summer.

If it would disappear without leaves, don’t mark it.

Segment limits by tier

Maximum marked segment duration depends on your plan (e.g. 90 s Free, up to 5 min Premium). See Usage tiers.

TaawnEngine reconstruction

After upload, Premium/Pro users can trigger TaawnEngine segment reconstruction from segment detail (requires calibrated camera). This builds a 3D model used for overlays and run alignment.
