Camera calibration
Why calibration?
3D segment reconstruction and 3D run overlays need accurate camera intrinsics (focal length, distortion). Without calibration, Taawn cannot reconstruct geometry reliably.
All models need a file today
Every GoPro model currently requires a calibration JSON in the app. Newer GoPros (Hero 12/13) store intrinsics in video metadata — automatic import is planned but not active yet.
How to add calibration
- You → My Cameras → add your GoPro model
- Tap Load calibration JSON — select the file for your model
- When creating a segment or uploading a run, assign this camera
Where to get the JSON
During the beta, contact support through the app and we will provide a calibration file for your camera model. An automated calibration workflow is planned for later.
JSON format
The file contains intrinsics and distortion coefficients in a format Taawn’s reconstruction pipeline expects. Do not edit unless instructed by support.
When calibration is checked
- Starting 3D segment reconstruction
- Enabling 3D run alignment at upload
- Viewing 3D trajectory overlays
If you see “add a camera with calibration data”, open Garage, load JSON, and assign the camera to your segment or run.
